Why does my computer keep freezing every time I insert extra ram?

So i bought this 512mg RAM piece of equipment, and every time I insert it into my computer, my computer gets much faster. But later the computer will just freeze. When I take the RAM out, the computer goes much slower except it wont ever freeze. Why is it doing this and is there a way to fix this?

your memory is mismatched.. one of the sticks is faster then the other.. best bet would be to go buy another stick or two from the same place that match… i always try to get all the memory in a computer at the same time and place.
